Adult male
Description: 18-25 mm. This is a white butterfly with black "checkered" markings, females with heavier markings than males. Females can be more gray than white. Underside can be white or pale yellow.
Habitat and Distribution: Northern Keys in weedy fields and disturbed areas
Host Plant: pepper grass (Lepidium virginicum)
Natural History: This butterfly may be a consistant stray to the Keys from the mainland from year to year. They show up in the Spring when the pepper grass is growing on the roadsides
